Translation

Actually, it is not for 1000 days. It is just that 3 years times 365 days plus June 27 through June 30, 2008 equals 1098 days, and that is way too cumbersome to convert into a blog headline. Futhermore, our release date will not be determined until May or June of 2011. Therefore, 1000 Days sounded just about right, more or less. Having noted all that, we are humbled and thrilled (Pres. Uchtdorf would refer to the feeling as "joyfully overwhelmed") about having this marvelous opportunity to serve in La Mision Mexico Veracruz.

We asked them to pose for a training presentation and they did so. Their house was absolutely spotless including the toilet. They didn't really know we were coming. Note behind them their pared, wall, which tracks their goal-setting and investigators six weeks into the future. Part of the floor was tiled. The rest was shiny cement. On the floor is one of the two fans we provide them. The walls are cement. This is all their furniture except for the two beds. We hear of missionaries who have cupboards, stoves, and even leather couches in one or two cases. Not so where we are. They have a one-burner hot plate and a small fridge. No microwaves. No carpet. No air condtioning. But, there is a loud rooster next door. Every mission has its perks.

But the fridge needed a little work . . .
