Translation

Actually, it is not for 1000 days. It is just that 3 years times 365 days plus June 27 through June 30, 2008 equals 1098 days, and that is way too cumbersome to convert into a blog headline. Futhermore, our release date will not be determined until May or June of 2011. Therefore, 1000 Days sounded just about right, more or less. Having noted all that, we are humbled and thrilled (Pres. Uchtdorf would refer to the feeling as "joyfully overwhelmed") about having this marvelous opportunity to serve in La Mision Mexico Veracruz.

We ordered a rosca from a local drug rehab house near the mission office. When we went to pick it up we took a couple of pictures of their Nativity in the driveway, complete with cardboard box houses and reindeer. There is no Bibilical account of the wiseman being transported to the event by reindeer, but how else would they have gotten there? Camels and donkeys??? Problem: Someone had stolen the Baby Jesus from the log cradle, so one of the drugs rehab patients ran into the house and got a substitute, placing it on the log very carefully so that he didn't burn it with his cigarette.

What great posts. Your sense of humor comes through in your story telling. Congratulations on finishing your 2009 posts! The story of the blind investigator at Church was a great story. We do work with angels, don't we??!! Oh, by the way, the yellow flower you recognized on my last post was actually taken in the greenhouse at the Botanic Gardens in the desert plant display. That's probably why you see them everywhere there. It was called "banana" something. Sorry, not much help there.

Why not have reindeer at the nativity? I like it.

To answer your question: I think that the number of comments on your blog has to do with how many readers you have and how many people think that you want comments.

President & Sister Hansen,

Thank you for the Mission Blog! We have loved reading all about the work and the fun while preparing our son to serve in Veracruz. He entered the MTC April 28, 2010 and is loving every minute. He cannot wait to get to Veracruz and meet you both and serve the people there. Thank you so much for the fun stories and miracles that you share with us on the blog.

Sister Hansen, thank you for the very thoughtful Mother's Day card! It made me cry and it comforted me to know you will be his "Mission Mom" and take great care of him! Thank you so much!

Sincerely,
Carol Ricks
