In the same district, Teziutlán, Elder Robertson and Gil are companions. Elder Robertson is from Oklahoma City and had nearly six weeks in the mission. They taught this family for a month. They were married! The elders were excited. This couple was very intelligent and had been looking for a church for a long time. They believed, but the lady was dragging her heels. She wanted to study for a couple of years before being baptized. Elder Gil loaned her a CD of church hymns in Spanish. One of the songs was "Learn of Me" by Janice Kapp Perry. While she was doing house work she was listening. "Learn of Me" is translated to "Seguidme" or "Follow Me." We have not heard it in Spanish, but the words moved her. She felt a stirring inside of her. She knew that she must follow the Savior's example and be baptized. She prayed that day and her decision was confirmed. In the special interview, I asked her why she desired baptism. She said, "Well, I like all the teachings, but especially I am intrigued by baptism for the dead. It makes so much sense to me." Clearly, that is the first time someone has ever brought that up to me in a baptismal interview. This family, well taught by the missionaries, is preparing for temple marriage in a year.

  1. Elder Robertson loves this family! They have such a special place in his heart. He has spoken several times about how excited he is that they are preparing to be sealed forever in the Temple.
