Translation

Actually, it is not for 1000 days. It is just that 3 years times 365 days plus June 27 through June 30, 2008 equals 1098 days, and that is way too cumbersome to convert into a blog headline. Futhermore, our release date will not be determined until May or June of 2011. Therefore, 1000 Days sounded just about right, more or less. Having noted all that, we are humbled and thrilled (Pres. Uchtdorf would refer to the feeling as "joyfully overwhelmed") about having this marvelous opportunity to serve in La Mision Mexico Veracruz.

Late in the afternoon we were back in Cuernavaca at one of the ancient haciendas of Hernan Cortés. The gardens were beautiful and the dinner was good. The drinks are horchata, or rice water with sweetened milk and cinnamon (very tasty)and jamaica. Very pretty to look at, too. The jamaica is made from harvested hibiscus flowers which are boiled to steep out the color and flavor. Mom and I are standing at the base of a giant tree whose roots grow outside of and into the ancient stone walls. To our right is either a poster on the wall, or a door into another room showing Pres. and Sister Nancollas of the Mexico City North Mission across the court which gives you an idea of the immensity of this place. It presents a fun optical illusion, too.
