Outside the museuem at Tres Zapotes is this beautiful flowering tree. Inside is a magnificent Olmec head which is 3000-4000 years old. It was found about 2 kilometers away. Note the old photograph above the artifact. It is a picture of the crew excavating the dig site many years ago. There are still a number of small pyramidal hills and other monticulos, mounds surrounded by cane and corn fields. Tres Zapotes is on the "backside" or the west side of the Hill VigĂa. On the frontside is the town, Santiago Tuxtlas. At this moment in time we had three assistants, Elders Yebra, Ricks, and Amador. Elder Yebra was being schooled to go to the Villahermosa Mission as an assistant.
I love the red tree and the pink and blue houses and the green grass. Mexico is so colorful.
